It’s fun going to a new library or archives, especially if your hopes are high for the insights its collections might yield. You arrive all senses alert, sharpened pencils at the ready, and a pocketful of shiny coins for the locker. But regular users of archives must also become accustomed to the varied security arrangements that most places put you through.
